O’Reilly’s Pick of the Week

This is way cool: Roy‘s interview with me, “Hiring Techies and Nerds” is O’Reilly’s Pick of the Week.

The first part of the interview is about hiring issues. But the last 20 minutes or so is about management and project management. If you haven’t heard it already, enjoy!

  1. I listened to the first part of the interview during today’s commute, and changed to a fresh set of batteries so that I can listen to part 2 tomorrow. Quite enjoyable. (And excellent sound quality.)

  2. There’s a lot of wonderful advice in the interview. One point that struck me as especially relevant to Agile methods was your choice of “worst mistake”. You didn’t mention a missed deadline, a blown budget, or a misunderstood customer requirement. Instead, you mentioned a thoughtless comment to a subordinate. To me, that really underscored the importance of the first principle of the Agile movement: We value people and interactions over processes and tools. Well done!
